To get started with Oracle database administration, you should understand the basic concepts of databases, such as database user types, database security, and permissions. You should also be able to complete basic tasks.


Types of database users:

The types of users, their roles, and responsibilities depend on the type of database. Small databases do not require more than one database administrator, while large and very large databases may require dividing the duties of the database administrator among several people depending on the specialist.


1- Database Administrators:

Each database requires at least one database administrator (DBA), and the Oracle database system can be very large and may include many administrators.


The tasks of the database administrator include the following tasks


1- Installing and upgrading the Oracle database.


2- Managing storage systems as well as planning for future requirements for database storage systems.


3- Creating the database as well as creating all the objects required for the operation of applications.


4- Modifying the database structure based on the requirements of the system developers.


5- Controlling database users and granting them appropriate permissions.


6- Complying with Oracle's license agreement.


7- Monitoring the work and performance of the database as well.


8- Monitoring users' access to the database.


9- Developing a backup strategy.


10- Restore the database in case of a problem.


11- Contact Oracle Support in case of a problem


2- Security Officers:

In some cases, one or more Security Officers are appointed, whose tasks focus on managing, monitoring and controlling database users as well as granting and withdrawing permissions and controlling access


3- Network Administrators:

To manage all Oracle products related to the network such as Oracle Net Services.


4- Application Developers:

Application developers design and implement database applications.


5- Application Administrators:

He is the user responsible for managing applications.


6- Database Users:

Database users who interact with databases through applications and other auxiliary tools and have limited permissions.
