(Recovery Manager (RMAN) is a tool created by Oracle starting with version 8 to be a qualitative leap in the field of backup and recovery (Backup & Restore & Recovery)
As this tool provides a set of options that were not available before, which made it the best tool provided by Oracle in this field at all.
Therefore, Oracle recommends using this tool because it contains A set of features, the most important of which are:
1- Better performance level for backup and recovery operations compared to other tools.
2- It performs a logical and physical examination of all blocks during backup and recovery operations, and then discovers corrupt blocks.
3- Providing full, partial and cumulative copy options.
4- Providing other options such as specifying the duration of the backup and specifying channels that work in parallel during the backup and recovery Backup & Recovery
Compression options to reduce the size of the output and other options that we will go over in turn.
5- Good management of backup and recovery operations as well as good management of tasks Backup and Restore.
6- Ability to backup each of (Database & Tablespaces & Datafiles & Archivelog Files & Control Files & Spfile)
7- Ability to pass the backup to Disks or Tapes.
8- High speed during backup and recovery.
9- Provides easy query methods to access all the required information about backup and recovery operations.
10- Providing an automated strategy for backup operations, which facilitates the operations of the database administrator, as well as facilitating the management of storage spaces on the disk.
